Highway Use Tax
Your Heavy Highway Use Vehicle Tax (2290) is due by February 22nd. If you have not paid the Highway Use Tax you need to do so as soon as possible. This is only applicable to operators utilizing Sunco’s tag. To all those drivers that are not sure what name to have the 2290 placed in, it must be in the name of company name that is listed on the title of your truck. If not, you run the risk of not being able to have the tag renewed. If you should have any questions regarding this issue please contact Candice Hume in the Lakeland Office at 800-237-8288 at ext. 2613 or Mike Walker in the Atlanta Office at 800-446-2864 ext. 112. If you have paid your tax please forward a copy of your 2290 with our vehicle identification number and the stamp to either Candice or Mike. To ensure expedited service of your tag renewal, please be sure we have a clear copy. As always, your prompt attention to this is appreciated.

“Unauthorized Passenger” Correction
Please note this correction to the December 19, 2009 Communicator regarding Unauthorized Passengers. Company drivers may only have their legal spouse as a passenger with written permission. Additionally, there are no children allowed on company equipment due to insurance guidelines. If you should have any questions or concerns regarding this policy, please call Anna Bynum in the Lakeland office at 863-616-2630. She will be more than happy to give you a copy of the policy as outlined in the Sunco company driver manual.

Plumbing Issues
We continue to have a serious problem at the Lakeland office concerning the plumbing. Paper towel and cloth rags are not to be tossed into the toilets. Please use the trash receptacles furnished for this purpose. If we expect to enjoy the facilities we have we need every ones cooperation in this matter.

Parking for Drivers at the Lakeland Terminal
Again we would like to ask you if you are going to be out for more than a few days, please park your personal vehicle in the far north lot of the Lakeland facility. We understand parking is limited but this effort is greatly appreciated by the employees.

Hours of Service and Log Books
Each month the Safety Department sends each driver an Hours of Service violation summary letter. This violation summary letter must be signed by the driver and returned to the Lakeland office via Trip Pak. Any missing logs noted on the violation letter should also be returned at the same time. We understand some of you may not make it to pick up the mail on a regular basis but your prompt attention to these letters is greatly appreciated by all in the Safety Department.

Extreme Weather Conditions
All over the country we are experiencing one of the worst winters in many years. This can mean extreme wear and tear on your equipment. Your equipment is one of your most valuable assets. Remember, when traveling in these harsh conditions make sure your tires are in good shape, brakes are working properly and even the little things like your windshield wipers. Keeping on top of all your maintenance items can make sure you, Sunco’s most valuable asset, are safe.

Blood Drive in Lakeland
In these crucial times, your blood donation is needed and very much appreciated. If you are in Lakeland Wednesday, February 17th between the hours of 08:30 and 12:00, we would like to invite you to join us for our Blood Drive. Our drive is held about every 6 to 8 weeks and each time, we get more donors than before. We are constantly striving to break the previous record for donors and the drivers are making a large portion of the difference. It is painless, so even the faint of heart can do it! Better yet, you get a free drink, snack, tee shirt and sometimes even a bag of goodies. Best of all, you are giving someone the gift of life! So mark you calendars if you will be in Lakeland and help us break a new record while helping those who need blood so badly.
